Black Home Birth Initiative

The Black Home Birth Initiative is the only program in Minnesota that funds home births for Black families. We sponsor the full or partial home birth fee for Black pregnant people who are seeking care with Metro Midwifery, or with a Black midwife. This initiative will directly impact the huge access disparity in home birth for Black families in Minnesota. Make requests or referrals on their page.

Black Moms Connect

This online PSI group is for Black mothers who are seeking peer support during the perinatal period up to 2 years postpartum. Our groups are here to help you connect with other moms, talk about your experience, and learn about helpful tools and resources. Whether you are going through stress, adjustment to parenting, baby blues, or pregnancy or postpartum depression/anxiety, our groups are here for you. Black Moms Breastfeeding Support Group (Facebook)

A mom-to-mom breastfeeding support group. We offer encouragement, support and evidence based information through community and friendship to help expectant and nursing moms to reach their breastfeeding goals.

Club Mom – Ramsey Co.

Club Mom is a community health gathering for African-American women, ages 19 and up who are pregnant and/or parenting children, 0-5 years. As a member of the group, you will have the opportunity to connect with one another, enjoy dinner, and participate in helpful guest speaker presentations. Childcare is provided during the presentation hour so that you can focus on learning information such as: stress management, child-safety practices, and resources such as health insurance and healthy child development. Club Dad – Ramsey Co.

Club Dad is a monthly gathering including dinner and educational sessions for African-American men who are fathers. Examples of possible discussion topics include: building positive parenting relationships, tools for stress management, strategies to overcome barriers such as education and employment and financial literacy. Hand to Hold – Black Mamas of the NICU Virtual Support Group

Isuroon “Mother’s Strive” Program

Isuroon supports Somali women and girls to combat gender disparities and social isolation. Through our Mothers Strive Program, we engage and connect mothers through weekly virtual gatherings. Anpa Wasté

Transitional housing program for teen moms who identify as American Indian and their children. It offers housing and a variety of support services, including counseling and mentoring. Bright Beginnings

The Bright Beginnings program is designed to assist American Indian women who are pregnant or recently delivered a child, have a history of substance abuse, and/or previous experience with the child protection system, at-risk for involvement with the child protection system, or seek to reunify if their children are in placement. Case Management and support up to 18 months postpartum, reconnecting with support and healing from historical trauma, support groups, and cultural activities. Family Spirit

A free peer educator program providing support for American Indian mothers and parents of children ages 3 and under. While this program has a large focus on the baby, it also helps families adjust to the new life of being parents. This program consists of regular home visits that can occur in the home or wherever the parents feel comfortable.

Family & Parenting Development Program

Boozhoo everyone! This Facebook group is dedicated to Native/Indigenous pregnant and lactating people, doulas, and supporters. We meet virtually on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays from 4-6 pm. During this time we openly and confidentially learn about pregnancy, lactation, and parenting from each other and/or special guest speakers. Women of Traditional Birthing- Div. of Indian Work Health Services

Women of Traditional Birthing (WTB) helps expectant mothers adopt healthy lifestyles that foster healthy babies by providing support for pregnant American Indian women through mentoring, education and community outreach. This program provides prenatal education and classes on Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) for expecting mothers. Weekly group meetings consist of a healthy meal, childcare, transportation assistance, cultural activities and a gift card for completion.
