Project Description

“Postpartum can be messy, complicated, overwhelming, emotionally and physically exhausting…It is always my goal…to truly allow mothers the time to heal, learn their baby, bond, rest, and recover after giving birth.”

Hi, my name is Taylor Garmaker, and I am a mama, postpartum doula, breastfeeding advocate, and postpartum mental health advocate who holds value in allyship within the BIPOC
community and each person’s individual journey to parenthood. My work as a postpartum doula includes customized emotional support, gentle companioning, and holding space while
providing a whole family approach to compassion centered postpartum support. It is always my goal when working with a family newly postpartum to be a support in all of those areas
and to truly hold space and nurture mothers in a way that compliments their own physical and emotional well-being, as well as bonding with their newborn.

I am currently working on finishing my mentorship to becoming an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and have completed over 128 hours of Lactation based
education. Please note that although I am passionate about breastfeeding, I will support and nurture your journey in whichever direction you choose to feed your baby. I finished my Postpartum Doula Certification in 2019 and have also completed training in Perinatal Mental Health, and plan on becoming certified in 2023. Prior to these trainings and certifications, I studied Early Childhood and Family Studies through the University of Washington, Seattle.

I hold value in kindness, compassion, empathy, coming as you are, honesty, and truly being a supportive advocate for the family as a whole. Postpartum can be messy, complicated, overwhelming, emotionally and physically exhausting, as well as isolating without help. It is always my goal when working working with a family newly postpartum, to be a support in all of those areas; to truly allow mothers the time to heal, learn their baby, bond, rest, and recover after giving birth.
